Howard Experience

Oh Howard
Personally, since I'm living off campus my Howard experience has been a little bit different from everyone else's. At first I got here with the mindset that it would be easy to compensate for not living on campus, being that I'm kind of a social person, only to discover that it's really not. I hate having to commute on Mondays&Wednesdays to my 9:10 classes that are three hours long and then hurry to the next class because I only have ten minutes in between that class and my next one. On Tuesdays&Thursdays it's the same thing and I can only catch a break after my first two classes are finished. OH!& Don't even try to stay awake or entertained in my back to back classes of English and Survey of Visual Art. Being a Photography major I mostly just look forward to those days in my Basic B&W Photo class where we go out and shoot for hours or my drawing class where I can freely sketch my opinionated mind. The positives to my schedule, being that all my classes end at 3:00-3:30, are that I do get to wander and explore the campus for what it is, an  extraordinary HBCU.
My first thoughts on the Freshman Seminar when registering for classes was that, due to the fact that it was a mandatory one credit class, I thought it would be easy and simple. Once attending the first session, and reading the syllabus, I came quick to realize that the class came with a lot of to-do's and work. I remember I walked into the auditorium and I was like 30 minutes early. I sat there with another young man who knew nothing about the syllabus we were supposed to have read and I watched people slowly file in. When the lady started to review the syllabus that's when I said to myself. Darnit BRIE! You should have printed it out. I'm honestly not excited about the lectures so much, because the person is talking at you. So I hope we have discussions and our group works well together. The class went on and on, and even a little longer than expected which almost made me late to my next class. I'm hoping next time everything goes according to plan because I can't wait to see what's up next.
